Alexander Volkanovski Says Ilia Topuria Will Deliver a Stunning Knockout Against Islam Makhachev “It’s game over”

Ilia Topuria echoes prediction of KO win over Ilia Topuria at UFC 317: 'All he has to do is show up'

With the prior knowledge of facing both, incoming UFC 315 headliner, Alexander Volkanovski has boldly claimed Ilia Topuria will end the lightweight run of past-foe, Islam Makhachev with a thunderous knockout if he can get his hands on him.

Volkanovski, who has been sidelined since back-to-back hellacious knockout losses to both Islam Makhachev and Ilia Topuria in the last year and a half, returns next month in the headliner of UFC 315.

And competing for the vacant featherweight championship, New South Wales favorite, Volkanovski is set to meet the surging Brazilian contender, Diego Lopes in a pairing in ‘The Sunshine State’.

Weighing up Spanish finisher, Topuria’s chances of toppling Makhachev if they meet as expected later this annum, Volkanovski has gone against the grain with a wholly confident prediction.

“Ilia (Topuria) is very dangerous, especially with his approach to striking,” Alexander Volkanovski told the Mighty channel. “He backs his boxing and believes he will eventually find the chin, staying stoic and on task until it happens. Even if things aren’t working, he keeps pushing to land that big shot.

“Islam (Makhachev), on the other hand, can be quite defensive and safe—he knows he needs to play it smart against someone like Ilia. But if Ilia traps him and lands a clean, powerful shot, it’s game over. He has the ability to knock out anyone in the lightweight division.”

Still yet to book a pairing with Makhachev this summer, soon-to-be former champion, Topuria has claimed both the Russian and former champion, Charles Oliveira have done their utmost to avoid a pairing with him later this year in his sophomore lightweight outing in the Octagon.
