UFC Fight Night 47 Adds Brad Tavares Vs. Tim Boetsch & Shawn Jordan vs. Jack May

The UFC’s first trip to Maine has it’s first few fights official.

UFC Fight Night 47 will go down on August 16 in Bangor, Maine and Lincolnville native Tim Boetsch has verbally agreed to fight Brad Tavares at the event event.

According to bangordailynews.com the middleweights have verbally agreed to throw it down inside the Cross Insurance Center which seats 6000 people. The headliner for the event is still unknown, Boetsch vs. Tavares is expected to take place somewhere on the main card.

Both men are in need of a win after suffering losses in their last bouts but “The Barbarian” will be desperately looking for the W with him being just 1-3 in his last 4 fights. His only win in that time came in a highly controversial split-decision loss to C.B. Dollaway at UFC 166.

Boetsch was last seen in action in April at UFC 172 where he was dismantled in just over two minutes by former Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold. The 33-year old will need to pull it out of the bag against the TUF 11 alum if he wants to secure his job in the UFC.

The 26-year old last competed at UFC on Fox 11 where he dropped his first fight in nearly three years to Olympic silver medalist Yoel Romero. Prior to his fight with Romero, Tavares was on a five-fight winning streak and breaking into the divisions top ten. Overall, the Hawaiian is 7-2 inside the Octagon since his time on The Ultimate Fighter.

UFC officials have also announced a heavyweight clash for the August card as Strikeforce veteran Shawn Jordan is set to take on “The Outlaw” Jack May. The pair are also coming of losses after, both getting knocked out in their previous fights.

Jordan was stopped Matt Mitrione in March at the TUF: China Finale suffering his second consecutive defeat by knockout. He was KO’ed by Gabriel Gonzaga which was the first stoppage of his UFC career.

His opponent will be looking to get his first win inside the Octagon after getting TKO’ed by Derrick Lewis in April. His lost to Lewis was the first of his professional career.
