Daniel Cormier Wants Number One Contender Fight With Phil Davis Or Anthony Johnson

UFC light-heavyweight Daniel Cormier finds himself in a decent position following his UFC 170 win over Pat Cummins, and will likely be looking at a fight with title implications in the near future. Although the division is limited for available fighters at the moment, things may change in the near future.

‘DC’ stopped by with ‘UFC Tonight’ to talk about his next potential fight, as Ariel Helwani tweeted:

A fight with either Phil Davis or the returning Anthony Johnson is an interesting angle, and one that I haven’t really considered. That being said, I think I’d be a lot more interested in a fight between Alexander Gustafsson and Cormier. The number one contender at 205 pounds is currently booked to face Jimi Manuwa on March 8, in London.

A win over the number one in the division would certainly do wonders for ‘The Poster Boy’ as far as the rankings, but would he deserve the title shot? I’m not entirely sure, but Cormier has what it takes to be a very serious threat at light-heavyweight and I think he will find himself facing the champ of the division by late 2014.
