In just a few weeks, a bitter rivalry will be renewed, as Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones are set to square off in their highly-anticipated light heavyweight title rematch at July 9’s UFC 200 from Las Vegas, Nevada.

The two men met for the first time in January 2015 at UFC 182 where Jones defended his then held 205-pound strap in decisive fashion, cruising to a unanimous decision victory.

This time, however, the circumstances are reversed. Cormier is now the champion looking to get revenge on the only man to ever defeat him, and he’s as confident as ever that he will indeed do so.

Cormier is well aware of how talented Jones is, as many consider “Bones” to be the very best mixed martial artist of all-time.

In terms of pure punching power, however, DC was never impressed by the ex-champion:

“He cannot punch,” Cormier laughed as he spoke to Opie & Jim Norton (HT: MMA Digest). “He hit me, and I’m like ‘Wow! This is actually him punching me as hard as he can.’ He can’t punch, so he has to throw elbows, kicks, and knees, because he can’t punch. He doesn’t hit very hard, so he has to do something.”

“He does not punch very hard, I’ll be honest with you, man. He kicks very hard, he knees very hard, and he elbows hard, but he can’t punch.”

As far as who he believes is the division’s most feared puncher, Cormier was quick to note Anthony “Rumble” Johnson, the man he beat in April 2015 to become the undisputed champion:

Anthony Johnson, 100 percent,” he said. “Anthony Johnson hits harder than any other person, no doubt. Every time he hit me, it made me kind of like fly all over the place. He was trying to take my head off. Even when he’d miss, you can hear it.”

Jones has said many times leading up the rematch that he is coming for the finish, but does he have the power to put the former Olympian away?
