Shane Carwin on Dos Santos: I'm going to knock him out or tap him out and feel no remorse for it

Former Interim Heavyweight Champion Shane Carwin, who will meet Junior dos Santos in the headlining bout at UFC 131, discusses his opponent, as well as his title hopes.  Carwin is confident that the Brazilian will not be able to match his wrestling skills and says that there's no doubt in his mind that he will beat Dos Santos.

Carwin has been sidelined since a failed attempt at dethroning then-champ Brock Lesnar at UFC 116 last July.  In the months that followed, the Grudge trained fighter underwent neck surgery that would ultimately keep him benched for nearly a year.  Though he was originally scheduled to make his return against Golden Glory stand-out Jon Olav Einemo, Carwin was tapped as a replacement for Lesnar, who was forced out due to illness, and now finds himself one victory away from another shot at the Heavyweight strap.  Photo: Francis Specker

"Junior dos Santos can't match my wrestling skills.  I've been wrestling since I was 6 years-old.  This is real simple - I'm not paid by the round, I'm paid to win.  My whole dream is to be the UFC Champion and to get that title shot, I got to go through Junior dos Santos.  I don't have a doubt in my mind, I'm going to beat Junior dos Santos and I'm going after the title."

got too like the fact that carwin hits like a mack dump truck ! knocking mouth pieces out of his opponents mouths ! i say carwin hits the hardest in the ufc ! i say carwin tko or ko ! when your dealing with a man like this speed is good ! but carwin is no slow poke for his size and he got 1 punch ko power ! all so high level boxing skills and wrestling ! and carwin has been in this sport loner than dos santos ! with more fights .

I hope Carwin has worked on cardio cause he hasn't been past the 1st

round in most his fights and like the Brock fight was gassed by the 2nd

just couldn't harley stand a guy his size takes so much to pump O2

around his body so he has to train for cardio if he doesnt gas has a great chance for this fight if he could do 3 rds at 80%-90% man he would be a monster, would have a great chance to be champ

i think Carwin vs Cain, would be a lot better of a match up then JDS Cain would be

The reason I would hve rather seen JDS vs Lesnar is so we can really see how good JDS is off his back n how effectively he can stuff takedowns from some one like Lesnar....Carwin vs JDS is most likely going to stay standing so if JDS win's its hard to tell how he will fair against Cain but if JDS had show great TDD n good ground game n beating Lesnar it would hve been more clearer how he would do against Cain but Carwin vs JDS is going to be fireworks pulling for JDS

I agree with your statement in the scenario in which you discuss... However, I do think Carwin will look for the takedown. If not from the start, then it will definitely be plan B.

agree jds vs cain is just a one sided beatdown. jds only advantage is he is a slightly better boxer while cain is the superior kickboxer and grappler .

carwin vs cain should be a lot more even and exciting

You gotta be kiddin me! this will not go to the judges there is no way... Carwin will knock JDS out real quick... there is no way JDS can take Carwin's bombs...

actually you don't know that.it kind of gets annoying when fans decide for themselves that a fighter can't take another fights punches...we will find out saturday..don't be so quick to judge before the fight even happens

This is gonna be epic, this will not go the distance I'm 100% sure of that. I think Carwin has a good chance of getting a KO if he can avoid the JDs combos, I think he can recover from 1 big shot. However i'm not sure if JDS can take a bomb from Carwin..

If by fighters you mean wrestlers, and by tv you mean monday night raw, than no.

at least he wasn't obviously reading off a teleprompter like some of them do. He's a smart and well spoken guy, I think he's just in a zombie-like state of focus.

this fight will probaly look a lot like the mir fight with carwin using his size and wrestling to push jds up against the cage then drop bombs on him

If JDS is able to stuff carwins Takedowns. Then its going to be a tuff night for Carwin.

    I think JDS by TKO.

"And I'm not gonna feel any remorse for doing it"

Wow heartless, he's not gonna feel any remorse for engaging in legal courses of action in a sport they've both consented to engage in. He's a badass

Haha I'm a big Carwin fan and I feel like he was kind of unlucky against Brock, I think he suffered from an adrenaline dump which made his cardio problems so much worse. I'd love to see that belt round his waist one day.
