Jon Jones says Rashad Evans is in for a "rude awakening" at UFC 145

"Rashad talks about the time he held me down in practice and how he was getting me to break mentally. I've eliminated all possibilities of that happening. I have my older brother here, I have Travis Brown here, and I have a whole bunch of Heavyweights that are a lot more powerful and big than Rashad. I'm having these guys hold me down in practice and try their hardest to break me mentally. Basically, I'm fighting from the worst position he could put me in, and if he's banking on breaking me mentally, he's going to have a rude awakening when he realizes that's just not going to happen." - For more from Jon Jones, visit The Sun (via MMAMania.com)

Rashad Evans is in for a rude awakening at UFC 145.

That's according to Jon Jones, who says that if the former Michigan State wrestling stand-out is counting on breaking him mentally, he's going to have to show up bigger and stronger than 6-foot-7, undefeated UFC Heavyweight Travis Browne.

Set to challenge Jones for the Light Heavyweight strap, Evans has often recounted past sparring sessions with his former Jackson's MMA teammate, during which he claims that he was able to have his way with "Bones" on the wrestling mat. The champ, however, has refuted such notions, insisting that Evans' version of the story has been highly exaggerated. But, what do you think LowKick'ers? Does "Suga" have what it takes to break "Bones" in Atlanta, or will his work with the heavies make Jones too much to handle?

Go camping in Alaska, and have someone dump cold water on your sleeping bag.

That ought to do the trick.

Yeah but Rashad has a weapon that your partner dont have ! . he will bad breath you to the point when you could faint while holding you down.

then, even if you go back on your feet ,you wont be the same fighter again, you will be dizy and rasha will take advantage of that to knock you out

weaking a comment like that is for those who can dish out a joke, but cant take it. i did have a similar situation, 14 , vacation with 2 friends and parents, almost asleep on couch , bf hits me face on with a pillow, didnt hurt , but the startle and rude awakening, pissed me off enough i started a short fight. but now, we laugh about it. so in the bigger picture it was funny, and not a rude awakening really, just a joke mispercieved.

I hope "bf" doesn't mean what I think it does. A pillow fight does seem fitting though.

I think everyone needs to pay attention to what Jonny bones is saying. Rashad is going to get owned.

he for sure can win, lyoto proved quickness and timing gets thru the reach, a lil more power and it could have been the end. most likely jones wins, and i want him to . but for sure rashad has a chance. funny thing is, one of them deep inside knows what really happened in sparring sessions, and one of them has to be faking it, haha. nv is a gambling state, i put money on rashad for denying he couldnt figure out how to hit jones 9/10 times in sparring.

If Rashad cannot beat Jones, I am really at a loss as to who at LHW can?

am i the only one reading in between the lines of what Jones is saying?? Rashad said he was breaking mentally now Jones has his older brother, and a bunch of other heavyweights putting him in those same bad positions Rashad had him in so it doesn't happen again. Sounds like a good plan but i think he is owning up to Rashad having him in bad position and him not being mentally tough enough. Jones is incredibly athletically gifted but I've always question his heart. Not from anything he's done in the cage. He's ran thru everybody he's faced but from his comments and body language outside of the cage. And I think Rashad is really in this guys head. I think if Rashad can turn this into a ugly fight and put some pressure on Jones maybe score some take downs and win the first few rounds. Then he will have a great chance of breaking Jones will and winning the fight.

But just because Bones beat Machita, and Machita beat Rashad; doesn't mean Bones can beat Suga. That formula doesn't always work out the way you think it will.

I know I always say this, and I'm always wrong ; but I got Bones losing a dec to Evans. A lopsided, ugly decision; but a win none the less.

I want to see Jones destroy Evans the way Silva smoked Franklin, twice. Dominant pounding from the get go and leave him broken and crumpled on the mat, then ask him who's fake now Rashad? Can' wait.

Evans will "hang in there" for a couple of rounds, and then Jones will get bored and make Evans look silly by dominating him in the third and ending the fight convincingly like he always does.

Anyone notice rashad says ON THE WRESTLING MAT??? Because of the actions that Jones is taking(that of a true champ) and fixing any possible holes in his game, that rashad might be telling the truth(maybe it happened only once?). Based on that, it sounds to me rashad is just using that instance(possibly only happened once) to promote the fight into something that almost the whole world really knows...jones is going to win.

If it was in fact either only on the wrestling mat or once or even both(which based on what was said is possible), MMA is a way different fight than just wrestling(insert knee to rashad's dome here).

Ive got jones winning this via brutal tko(elbows or knee) or possibly even a sub. Rashad a lop sided win??? F@#$ no! I like rashad, but jones is another type of animal. Can rashad win, sure...it's f@#$%&* MMA, he's 1 punch away from a win...do i personally think it WILL happen? That should Be rhetorical...

Looks like everyone is a subject matter expert....no need for my opinion here. but why the hell not heres my $.02....ok look... Rampage had power on jones....no dice....Machida had speed, power, and acuracy on jones....eh fell short....Evans is lacking compared to these two iin those deptments...Rampage is stronger than evans and we all know what happened in the machida evans exchange, plus Jones on the ground well we've seen that too those elbows are unforgiving ask Hamill, Vera, ect ect even Machida got one of those that ended up deciding the fight....Evan will not be the one to knock off Jones

what your forgetting is how well Rashad mixes his wresting with his striking changes level and fakes shot to open up his opponent for strikes. and look what just happen against Davis he took him down and fully controlled him with wrestling and don't forget Davis wrestling was supposed to be so much better than Rashad. your right about Jones on the ground but you've never seen him on the ground fighting off his back and if anyone can get him there it Rashad
