Dan Henderson will wait for a title shot at 185 or 205

In November 2011 Dan Henderson returned to the UFC after spending some time in the Strikeforce organization. During his stay in Strikeforce he captured the organization’s Light Heavyweight title, defeating Rafael Cavalcante by TKO. He followed up that victory with another TKO win, stopping Fedor Emelianenko in the first round. When he stepped foot in the Octagon in November he and his opponent, Mauricio Rua delivered one of the best main events in UFC history going toe to toe for the full 25 minutes with Henderson eventually being declared the victor.

Now Henderson sits and waits with no opponent or fight on the horizon and that, according to Dana White, is Henderson’s doing. “He wants a title fight. He either wants Anderson Silva or whoever has the belt at 185 or the winner of Evans and Jones. Last time I talked to Henderson, he wanted to wait to fight one of these guys for the title.” White then continued, “He’ll fight whoever has that. Dan doesn’t seem too picky, I think he would fight Chael Sonnen.” – for more see MMAWeekly

What do you think LowKick’ers, is Henderson making the right decision in waiting?

It wont happen ! I dont think, Chael will beat Anderson Silva in brazil, maybe if the fight was in the states Chael would have a good chance ,but not in brazil. There will be too much pressure on Chael after everything he said .

I really would like Fedor to join the UFC and get a rematch with Dan and force him to go to bed early for the 1st time in his career.

    Agree 100%

Even worse, if the winner of jones vs evans gets badly injured during the fight, has to get surgery/rehab before training again, then the winner of silva vs sonnen gets badly injured and has to surgery/rehab before training again, Hendo's ****ed AND 42.

Although jones vs evans or silva vs sonnen are obviously bigger money makers, hendo vs either of those champs would've made for much more exciting fights, and I felt that his performance vs rua earned him a title shot at either of those belts before evans or sonnen

Why would Anderson Silva waste a fight on this guy?

Maybe because thats who his boss says hes going to fight. This sport would totally suck if champs chose their comp. I hope you agree, you've been here long enough to know better. Hendo can KO anyone if he catches them, Fedor for example and he was much larger than Dan.

Henderson is one of my most respected fighters. Hes more capable of finishing a fight than Chael ever dreamed of.

Dan knows what mistakes he made last time. He isnt stupid.

are you joking?? they fought before and I'm pretty sure he was the last guy to win a round against Silva before Chael did. Dan has also improved greatly since he fought Silva. This would be a great fight

He shouldn't the first fight wasn't close, and Dan's #1 excuse is his weight cuts to 185 when he loses.

Lol No problem. Yeah, You've made some great points, but I would rather see him fight someone he hasn't fought yet since he doesn't have that many fights left in him.

i think dans a smart fighter, hes old and knows he IS coming to the latter end of his career, hes in a good place right now and for him to take a fight against someone ranked below him is not the best choice, for example he could fight someone like machida but he might lose and or take damage that is detrimental to his future, but if he waits and gets what he deserves he might be able to land an H-bomb on jones's little head. Hey i rather see dan motivated and in good condition for the big fights like a title shot than being grounded out some other way

If Dan learned anything from Chael, it will be interesting....like press him hard! Dont let him sit back at distance and counter you, get inside and K him TFO

imo if he has been winning in LHW not in Middle, he should fight for the title in LHW not in middleweight

good idea to wait, he's probably only got a couple years left in him, no need to risk his contender status, dude just wants 1 last belt before he rides off into the sunset

Age is fairly irrelevant. Hendos probably as good or better than he's ever been. He has a lot more experience and has a great skill set and could possibly beat anyone in lhw or mw...jones would most likely win, but i can never count some1 like hendo out....mma is 1punch difference, not quite like boxing.

Size may be more relevant. A big LHW against probably a true MW. Still I'd like to see Hendo take a shot at bones.

If the lightweight division has taught us anything, the smart money is on a series of immediate rematches that leave Dan waiting til he really is too old to fight. I guess that's what TRT is for...

He should fight Machida, just to prove he really deserves the title fight if he wins.
