Wang Cong Fires Back at Valentina Shevchenko: “I Can Smash Your Mouth”
Wang Cong is back on Valentina Shevchenko’s case after beating Tracy Cortez at UFC 329, using a pointed Instagram post to revive their old kickboxing feud and demand a UFC title fight. Wang won their 2015 Kunlun Fight meeting by unanimous decision, a result that came before Shevchenko entered the UFC.
Wang defeated Cortez by unanimous decision at UFC 329 on July 11 in Las Vegas, with all three judges scoring it 29-27. She absorbed a one-point deduction in round two for an illegal knee to a grounded Cortez, then held firm through the final round to secure the win. The result moved Wang to 10-1 as a pro and marked her fifth UFC win in six appearances, placing her officially in the UFC top ten. Cortez, meanwhile, dropped to 12-4 and has now lost two straight fights.
Wang Cong Tells Valentina Shevchenko: “I’m Officially Calling” You Out After UFC 329 Win
Wang did not wait long to turn her attention toward the woman at the top of the flyweight division. In an Instagram video, “The Joker” said, “The game is over. Now I’m officially calling Valentina Shevchenko. You said in the interview before that you need me to hit you and let’s talk about entering the top ten. And here I am.”
Wang then brought up their kickboxing bout from October 31, 2015, when she beat Shevchenko by unanimous decision over three rounds in Beijing under the Kunlun Fight banner. It was Shevchenko’s final kickboxing contest before her UFC debut later that year.

“Ten years ago, I beat you in that kickboxing match. Let’s set the record straight about that fight held in China: the referee was Korean, not Chinese,” Wang said. “Back then you were a two-time champion while I was just a complete rookie, no official would’ve favored me. You not only fabricated lies but also dragged the whole event through the mud.”
The 34-year-old addressed their prior run-ins around UFC Macau, adding, “Then there’s Macau. You refuse to share the stage with me. I don’t say anything because that’s my hometown. I want you to be happy. Happy walk. Now this is in America. You talk nonsense again. See if I can smash your mouth.”

Wang framed her move to MMA as a direct route back to Shevchenko. “I switched over to MMA just to compete against you,” she said. “Hope you hold onto your title and don’t lose it ahead of our next matchup. Inside the Octagon, the greatest stage in the world, UFC, I’m gonna knock you off your pedestal all over again!

Shevchenko remains the UFC women’s flyweight champion following her latest title defense, a shutout unanimous decision over former strawweight champion Zhang Weili at UFC 322 in November 2025. All three judges scored the contest 50-45, giving Shevchenko her 11th UFC title-fight victory, tying Amanda Nunes for the most in company history. No fight has been announced for Shevchenko, although top contenders Natália Silva, Manon Fiorot, Alexa Grasso and Erin Blanchfield sit ahead of Wang in the UFC’s current 125-pound rankings.
For now, Wang has put a clear target on Shevchenko’s back. The Cortez win gave her another ranked-level scalp, but the UFC will decide whether a 2015 kickboxing result and a hard-selling callout are enough to fast-track her to the champion.
