Vinicius Oliveira Dismantles Andre Fili in Featherweight Debut with Stunning Round 2 TKO – UFC Vegas 119 Highlights
The UFC Vegas 119 main card party at the Meta Apex started with a featherweight contest between Vinicius Oliveira and Andre Fili.
Oliveira looked much fresher and sharper in his featherweight debut. He began picking apart his American foe’s lead leg with back-to-back calf kicks. Fili responded with head kicks to keep the Brazilian on the back foot. Despite that, “LokDog” looked fluid.
Late in the first stanza, Andre Fili landed a blow to the body and head that briefly stunned Vinicius Oliveira.
Both fighters had their moments throughout Round 1, and Oliveira even attempted a takedown late in the first frame but ultimately abandoned it.
In Round 2, Vinicius Oliveira continued with a similar approach. He used calf kicks to slow Fili down while picking him apart. His sharp jab and body shots consistently troubled “Touchy.”
The 35-year-old, meanwhile, landed an explosive takedown, but Oliveira wasted no time getting back to his feet and resuming control.
Despite throwing a high volume of strikes, Vinicius Oliveira’s power initially didn’t seem enough to put Andre Fili away. However, the second round ended on a dominant note for the Brazilian as he relentlessly pressured Fili against the fence and began dismantling him with non-stop attacks to the legs, body, and head.
Oliveira eventually dropped Fili with an uppercut and followed up with a barrage of strikes, forcing the ref to step in and stop the bout before the second frame could conclude.
Official result: Vinicius Oliveira defeats Andre Fili via Round 2 TKO (4:56)
