UFC 172 will mark the first time that Jon Jones has competed since his epic UFC 165 battle against Alexander Gustafsson. The five round slobber-knocker won the pair a plethora of fight awards, most notably the prestigious ‘Fight of the year’ moniker. The two will be forever linked for that night in Toronto, and there are still many fans that think ‘The Mauler’ won that scrap.
Inevitably Jones held on to his title following the judge’s scorecards, and will look to defend his belt for the seventh time this weekend, but a win would mean that we will finally see a rematch between ‘Bones’ and Gus; a fight that most of us have been clamouring for since last September. Gustafsson stayed active in that time, knocking out the dangerous ‘Poster Boy’ Jimi Manuwa in London.
In honor of that great fight in Canada, the UFC has put together a pretty awesome ‘Fight Flashback’ feature on UFC 165. Check it out for some incredible unseen footage, both in the cage and out, and some raw backstage film. Stay tuned to LowKick.com for more UFC 172 hype and coverage.
