UFC 150 Post-Fight Interviews: Cain Velasquez will fight JDS next

In a series of UFC 150 post-fight interviews, UFC President Dana White speaks to Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com and avoids addressing who he thought won the Ben Henderson vs. Frankie Edgar rematch. He thought Henderson won both decisions, so there was no reason to keep discussing it. White hoped to have Henderson fight Nate Diaz before the year was up. He stated that he was on good terms with Mayhem Miller. White also dispelled a ton of Heavyweight hype by stating Cain Velasquez will no doubt be the next challenger to Junior dos Santos‘s title, not Alistair Overeem. The issue of Anderson Silva vs. GSP was brought up, but nothing was clarified.

Donald Cerrone spoke of his astounding win over Melvin Guillard, describing the past relationship they had at Jackson’s MMA. He described weathering Guillard’s initial storm and called out fellow Lightweight Anthony Pettis. That fight should be a blockbuster match of two talented, dynamic strikers. All of the sudden, the Lightweight division has been opened wide with Ben Henderson’s controversial title defense.

Yushin Okami talked about his win over Buddy Roberts at UFC 150, a fight where he looked very effective with his wrestling and ground strikes. Okami, a former challenger to Anderson Silva‘s Middleweight title, spoke of his desire to fight the top-ranked Middleweights once again. With the victory, Okami returned to his winning ways for the first time since 2010.

Max Holloway spoke of his devastating knockout over former TUF contender Justin Lawrence, thinking that he finally got a finish in the UFC. Holloway is a young contender at 145 lbs. who seems wise beyond his years, giving Dustin Poirier much credit for previously defeating him and also respecting his opponent Lawrence’s kickboxing skills. For the young Hawaiian fighter, a bright future could be ahead soon.
