Stamp Fairtex is “already a legend”, “shows how strong Muay Thai is” says ONE FN 35 Fighter
Stamp Fairtex is set to return to the ONE Circle in November and a surging star in the Muay Thai ranks has offered up his thoughts on this. Johan Ghazali will do battle with Zakaria El Jamari in a Muay Thai bout at ONE Fight Night 35 on September 5th. Ghazali appeared on Bowks Talking Bouts to discuss past instances of mentioning Stamp Fairtex being someone who has given him a certain level of inspiration.
This would make sense considering Stamp’s massive profile, winning titles in three different combat sports disciplines under the ONE Championship banner. When asked for his thoughts on the looming return of Stamp later on this year, Ghazali said,
“Yeah, I’m excited. I’m excited. I’m definitely excited for that one because Stamp was one of the very first ONE Championship fighters to like acknowledge me really, you know. When I was like up and coming, she was the s**t. she was you know; he had the kickboxing [title and] Muay Thai belt, going for MMA. So, yeah, she’s already a legend and her coming back is like, it’s going to be something cool to watch. So, yeah, I’m excited for her.”
The notion was mentioned that Stamp could be able to provide a blueprint in a way with the young Muay Thai phenom also showing a certain level of interest in maybe trying out MMA himself one day. While responding to this notion, Ghazali stated,
“Yeah, definitely. Definitely. One day, you know, it just shows how strong Muay Thai is in striking and stand-up combat. So, yeah, if Stamp can do it, you know, hopefully I can do it [laughs].”
Stamp Fairtex and the details of her ONE Championship return
Stamp Fairtex will step into the ONE Championship ring at Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan on November 16th. On that date, the martial arts phenom will clash with Kana Morimoto at ONE 173. Stamp will return to compete under kickboxing rules with a prior ONE kickboxing title being part of her championship trifecta within the promotion.
Stamp Fairtex was initiall planning a return for last Summer but alas, an injury would scrap that plan and cause her ONE atomweight MMA championship unification bout against Denice Zamboanga cancelled with Zamboanga beign upgraded to ONE atomweight champion outright. Stamp held the ONE kickboxing crown for close to a year and a half between October 2018 and February 2020.
