The only fighter to ever knock Dricus Du Plessis out in his MMA career is now a free agent, and a potential UFC move looms large.
Alongside Usman Nurmagomedov, the fighter in question could be another ‘hot’ free agent the world’s biggest MMA promotion could possibly sign.
That man is Roberto Soldic. The 31-year-old Croatian confirmed his free agency in a story he shared on Instagram, also thanking ONE Championship (where he last fought). Soldic wrote:
Thank you for the journey. My time with ONE has come to an end as my contract has officially expired. I want to thank ONE Championship from the bottom of my heart for the opportunity, and the incredible experience. Every fight, every challenge, and every moment inside the cage has pushed me to become a better warrior and a better person. I’ve gained more than just fights – I’ve gained knowledge, respect, and memories that will last a lifetime.To my fans, thank you for your unconditional support through every high and low. You are the reason I keep fighting.
He ended the note with:

It is important to note that, back in 2022, Soldic had turned down an offer from the UFC and instead signed with ONE Championship after moving on from Polish promotion KSW. Four years and just three fights later, ‘Robocop’ might finally be headed to the octagon.

Roberto Soldic is a KO machine. Out of his 21 wins, 18 have come via KO or TKO, a staggering 86% finish rate. Only two wins have come by means of decision, and one via submission.
He fought Dricus Du Plessis twice in 2018, where he was first TKOed by the South African (eventually losing the KSW welterweight title too). Just six months later in October 2018, Soldic came back in resounding fashion to KO ‘Stillknocks’ and reclaim the belt.
However, the Croatian wasn’t able to assert his dominance in ONE Championship, despite his short stay. His record in the promotion reads 1 win, 1 loss, and 1 no-contest. Over to you, UFC.
