Sean Strickland Blasts Khamzat Chimaev for Not Defending Middleweight Title Yet
Sean Strickland, who loves to play the heel, most recently took fiery digs at UFC middleweight champion Khamzat Chimaev. While doing so, Strickland pointed out Chimaev’s inactivity and how the latter has not shown any interest or urgency to make the first defense of his 185-pound championship.
Last year in August at UFC 319, “Borz” dominantly dethroned Dricus du Plessis to capture the throne. Chimaev ragdolled the South African from the first round, scored 12 takedowns, and had a control time of nearly 22 minutes en route to a unanimous decision win.
However, after winning the title, it’s been nearly six months, and Chimaev’s next bout is yet to be announced.
The Chechen-born Emirati suffered a foot injury for which he will go under the knife. Hence, that is delaying his return. “Borz” is expected to make his first title defense post-Ramadan and is likely to face Nassourdine Imavov.
Sean Strickland goes scorched earth on Khamzat Chimaev: “He is just going to sit on that f****ng belt”
Sean Strickland, who will return to the octagon later this month at UFC Houston to face Anthony Hernandez, recently blasted the middleweight champion for stalling the division.
“Tarzan” mocked Khamzat Chimaev’s long stretches of inactivity, claiming that after nearly every fight, “Borz” seems to suffer a mysterious injury. He said:
“It’s kind of weird how the UFC deals with Chimaev. You brought a guy, and they fight once a year. Who is like a f**ng Madonna. I mean, how much money does that dictator give him under the f**ing table? The guy doesn’t need to fight, dude. He is best friends with a f**king warlord. He is just going to sit on that f**king belt and wait until they force him to fight… You would make more money not fighting for the belt than you would fighting for the belt. The belt is not even in my brain anymore. I’ll make significantly more money just fighting. Every time this f**king guy fights he has a mysterious injury.”

During the same interview, Sean Strickland added that he believes he could solve the Khamzat Chimaev puzzle:
“That’d be a big fight. I think I’m probably the only one that could beat Chimaev. I honestly think Fluffy is a better wrestler than Chimaev.”
