Nate Diaz Throws His Support Behind Chael Sonnen Following Hotel Brawl

Chael Sonnen has found an unlikely ally amid his ongoing legal troubles, as Nate Diaz has taken to social media to offer his support to ‘The American Gangster’

Sonnen was involved in a brawl at the Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas this past weekend. Police responded to reports of a disturbance just after 7 p.m. on Saturday. According to witnesses, Sonnen was seen banging on the hotel room door of an unidentified couple before getting into an altercation with the male. The female was seen and heard by witnesses asking for help as Sonnen allegedly assaulted her partner. According to the police report, the former UFC and Bellator fighter beat five separate victims and was briefly detained by law enforcement.

Nate Diaz took to social media on Wednesday to offer some kind words to Sonnen during this difficult time.  

“Idc what happen free @ChaelSonnen,” Diaz wrote on Twitter.

“don’t know the story but know @ChaelSonnen is a innocent man,” Jake Shields replied.

Nate Diaz Is Not The First MMA Figure To Back Chael Sonnen

Brendan Schaub claims to have spoken with Sonnen since the incident and got details on what actually happened. The former UFC heavyweight turned popular podcaster claims that Sonnen was simply protecting his wife from two people who were harassing her.

“Here’s what happened is Chael was obviously working and he was with his wife and his wife is a f*cking saint and also a dime piece,” Schaub said on Below the Belt. “And some drunk guy with his girl kept making comments about his wife, saying about her t**s, her a**, right in front of him.

“Well, play stupid games, win stupid prizes, cause you are talking and disrespecting one of the toughest guys on the planet and definitely one of the toughest ever to compete in the UFC or Bellator for that matter. And you’re doing it in front of his face, then there’s gonna be repercussions. And any guy that wanted to do that for their girl/ladies you got a girlfriend.”
