Yana Santos spoiled Miesha Tate’s return to the Octagon at UFC Des Moines, scoring a decision victory over the former bantamweight queen.

As the opening round wound down, Santos found success by attacking Tate’s back leg, knocking ‘Cupcake’ off balance multiple times.

The second round saw Tate continue to push the pace, but unable to accomplish more than backing Santos up against the cage before inevitably separating.

Needing a finish in the third round, Tate came out looking for an early takedown, and she got it, dragging Santos to the mat and moving into the mount. As Tate proceeded to drop bombs, Santos gave up her back. That prompted Tate to start fishing for a rear-naked choke, but Santos defended well and made it to the final horn.
