Miesha Tate Blasts Ronda Rousey, Says She’s Avoiding Cyborg

It seems as if top women’s bantamweight and former title challenger Miesha “Cup Cake” Tate hasn’t been too happy with her promotion lately. After running through a string of four contenders, Tate was promised a third crack at reigning champion Ronda Rousey by UFC president Dana White.

However, the promotion went ahead and booked Rousey against former world champion boxer Holly Holm without ever informing “Cup Cake”, leaving Tate rather “heartbroken”. Appearing on yesterday’s (September 16, 2015) edition of UFC Tonight, Tate spoke up on the situation, saying that she was offended that White was counting her out.

That’s not all the former Strikeforce champion had to say, however, as she also blasted Rousey, saying that the champ is avoiding a bout with Invicta FC featherweight champion Cris “Cyborg” Justino, which is a fight the whole world wants to see:

“From her whole career it was just 145 and 145 only at the beginning. It seemed like when the talks with ‘Cyborg’ became serious, it was like, ‘No, I’m dropping to 135.’ Granted, she is the champion, but so is ‘Cyborg.’ They’re both dominant champions, one weight class apart. To me it makes sense to meet in the middle.”

The Rousey vs. “Cyborg” fight has been talked about for years now, but the weight discrepancy always seems to be the factor hindering the bout from happening. Due to Justino’s past history with performance-enhancing-drugs (PEDs), the “Rowdy” one has refused to budge from 135-pounds to make the fight happen.

That being said, “Cyborg” is a massive 145-pounder, and it may be difficult to cut down to bantamweight. However, she will make the first step in order to do so, as she is scheduled to fight at 140-pounds at an Invicta show in November.

Noted as one of the most dominant athletes on the planet, it would be hard to believe that Rousey would duck anyone, but do you agree with Tate here?
