Jon Jones Claims He is NOT Retired: “Actively training 5 days” Seeking White House Fight
Jon Jones has professed that we have not seen the last of him inside the UFC octagon as the polarizing pugilist prepares for a return at an unprecendted tentpole event next year. The White House-UFC card has been grabbing headlines since the concept was expressed publically with the two division UFc champ having a defined interest with taking part in this event.
In footage from the MTV Video Music Awards with the recording done by a public relations manager, Jones said,
“I’m not retired, I’m actively training 5 days a week and I’m in the UFC’s drug testing pool… I’m training for the [White House] event, I’ll be ready for the event… but ultimately it’s up to the boss.”
Jon Jones and the one in a billion shot
The UFC’s anti-doping website has displayed that Jon Jones has been tested three times this calendar year so far. Dana White announcing Jones was retiring at a post-event press conference for UFC Baku seemed quite inasupicious for someone amny see as MMA’s GOAT. US president Donald Trump’s mention of wanting to host a card at the White House in June 2026 to tip the proverbial cap to American Independence Day has given ‘Bones’ a spark to want to fight, on at least one more occasion, and be part of such a unique event.
That being said Dana White doesn’t seem to have a great deal of faith in booking Jones for a card like that and has indicated as siuch when asked about if the former UFC light heavyweight as well as heavyweight champion would be featured on a card like that. This makes a degree of sense considering Jones has a record with several drug test offenses, outside of the cage legal issues, and the feet dragging way he handled the Tom Aspinall title unfiication fight negotiations only to ultimately vacate his UFC belt at the end of it.
Dana White even went as far as to phrase the chances of Jones being on that UFC White House card as being a billion to one. But Jones had later responded to that and maintained a positive viewpoint about getting on that event next year for his octagon return.
