Jiri Prochazka being world champion again would be good for UFC, says MMA analyst
MMA analyst Din Thomas has given his thoughts on Jiri Prochazka vs Carlos Ulberg as a world title fight.
At UFC 327, in the main event of the evening, Jiri Prochazka will attempt to become a two-time UFC light heavyweight champion when he collides with Carlos Ulberg. This fight comes in the wake of Alex Pereira deciding to vacate the strap in favor of a move up to the heavyweight division, where he will try and become a three-weight world champion.
At 205 pounds, though, this is a really interesting contest to determine the new champ. Jiri Prochazka has been pretty much unstoppable in the UFC against everyone not named Alex Pereira, whereas Carlos Ulberg has worked incredibly hard to get to this point and earn a shot at the gold.
In a recent podcast appearance, Din Thomas weighed in on the importance of the fight and the possibility of Jiri Prochazka becoming champion again.
Din Thomas on Jiri Prochazka possibly becoming UFC champion again
“I think Jiri Prochazka being champion is always going to be good for UFC,” Thomas said. “He’s one of those guys where you’re just going to love him no matter what. Not that you’re not going to love Carlos Ulberg, it’s just that he’s quietly made his way into this spot to fighting for this.
“He’s won a gang of fights in a row and looked great every time doing it. He’s very marketable, good looking guy, represents a part of the world that could use a champion. But there’s just part of it that’s missing something, and I’m not really sure what that is.
“I think Jiri being champion just feels right. He’s got that aura about him where it’s like, ‘We kinda like him as champion.’ I just feel that way about Jiri. He’s got that champion aura about him.”

It’s going to be a tough fight for both men, but it certainly seems as if fans are eager to see Jiri back on top. Alas, Carlos has been waiting a long time for an opportunity like this, and we can’t imagine he is going to go down without a fight against one of the light heavyweight division’s very best.
