Israel Adesanya Is Backing Alex Pereira’s Triple-Champ Dream: ‘The first person to climb Everest’

Israel Adesanya, Alex Pereira

Israel Adesanya is rooting for Alex Pereira and wants the Brazilian to attain three-division glory in the UFC after getting his hand raised on June 14 at the White House.

This weekend in the co-main event of UFC Freedom 250, the former two-division champion will be making his 265-pound debut against Ciryl Gane. If Pereira gets past Gane and grabs the interim heavyweight championship, he will become the first UFC fighter to win belts in three different weight classes.

Pereira’s former UFC and kickboxing rival, Israel Adesanya, has once more shown support for him. After years of competitive rivalry, the two have buried the hatchet and have developed a strong mutual respect. Both former UFC champs often back each other and maintain a friendly relationship.

Recently, lauding “Poatan” and showing support for the Brazilian, “The Last Stylebender” said:

“I want to see Alex do it [win the third UFC belt]. I honestly think it’s going to be good for the sport. It’s going to be great for him to achieve something that’s never even been attempted. It’s like seeing the first person climb Everest a four-minute mile. F*ck I just wanna see him do it… People don’t understand what it’s like to root for someone you’ve competed against. It’s not about me, it’s bigger than me. This is history, To see someone achieve this, and you played a part in helping them get there. It’s f*cking cool, man… The official pick. I’m going chama by chama.”
