Alex Pereira Sends Bold Message to Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall Ahead of Ciryl Gane Clash
If everything goes as planned for former two-division UFC titleholder Alex Pereira on June 14, and he secures the interim heavyweight championship, “Poatan” plans to fight at least two more times this year, as his recent comments suggest, and already has his heavyweight plans mapped out.
Pereira is going to lock horns with Ciryl Gane this weekend in the co-main event of UFC Freedom 250, and if he gets past Gane, he will become the first UFC fighter to hold belts in three weight classes.

The Brazilian loves to stay active. He fought three times each year from 2022 to 2024, and last year he competed twice before vacating his light heavyweight title to move up.
If Alex Pereira wins the interim 265-pound title, he’s expected to meet undisputed heavyweight titleholder Tom Aspinall later this year in a title unification bout. But Aspinall is currently not even cleared to spar after double eye surgery and hasn’t informed the UFC brass when he plans to return. Thus, “Poatan” doesn’t want to wait, as Aspinall isn’t even training right now.
Alex Pereira discusses UFC future, sends a reminder to every heavyweight on the roster, including Tom Aspinall and Jon Jones
The 38-year-old opined during an interview with Ariel Helwani that he doesn’t have time to waste and will stick to his plan to enter the octagon ASAP if he wins on June 14 and leaves the octagon with no severe injuries. He also sent a gentle reminder to Jon Jones, Tom Aspinall, and every other 265-pounder.
“I want to fight as soon as possible after this fight. Jon Jones, I don’t know if he’s training. Aspinall, maybe he’s not going to be ready. Those guys should be training right now because, as soon as this fight is finished, I want to fight as soon as possible… I don’t think any of them will be ready. Right now, we know there’s no longer the whole process of building a fight because there are no more PPVs involved.”
“To all the heavyweights, I’m being nice. I’m just letting you guys know: be prepared. Start training because, as soon as this fight is finished, if I win and I’m healthy, I’m going to push the UFC to give me another fight right away.”
