Dustin Poirier says Khamzat Chimaev lost his aura after UFC 328
Dustin Poirier believes that Khamzat Chimaev’s aura was diminished at UFC 328 after the Chechen-born Emirati lost his undefeated record and middleweight crown.
Chimaev locked horns with Sean Strickland this past weekend, and things did not go as planned for the former. “Borz” had to keep his wrestling aside once Strickland’s takedown defense forced him to stand and bang with him for the majority of the minutes.
The American fighter got his hand raised after five rounds of constant back-and-forth and a few wrestling exchanges. Right after the fight, Chimaev told UFC CEO Dana White that he wants to move up to light heavyweight and no longer wants to fight at middleweight.

Dustin Poirier says Khamzat Chimaev’s intimidating aura is gone
Dustin Poirier believes Khamzat Chimaev won’t be able to intimidate future opponents the same way he used to after UFC 328. During a recent sitdown with UFC on Paramount+, “The Diamond” said:
“The next fight, whoever he gets matched up with, it’s going to be tough for him to intimidate because his aura took a hit this week.”
Poirier also pointed to Chimaev squashing his beef with Sean Strickland and even putting the belt around his archrival’s waist. “The Diamond” belives all these actions show that “Borz” and his aura took a major hit after the title loss. He added:
“His whole aura took a hit this week. Putting the belt on Sean, come on, man.”

After the title loss, Chimaev did not waste time calling out Sean Strickland to run it back whenever “Tarzan” is ready. He posted on X:
“Let me know when you are ready @SStricklandMMA”
“@SStricklandMMA see you soon again 🫡”
