Dustin Poirier Hints at UFC Comeback, Has Multiple Opponents in Mind
UFC veteran Dustin Poirier could potentially come out of retirement and already has a few opponents in mind whom he would love to lock horns with.
The past few weeks have been very difficult for “The Diamond” after a video of an airport altercation went viral, showing him appearing intoxicated in public, for which he was removed from a flight and arrested on Father’s Day.

The Louisiana native recently admitted that he doesn’t even want to watch the now-viral body cam footage of him threatening a police officer. He confessed that he does not want to think about that incident or replay it in his mind, as at the end of the day, overthinking will do him no good.
Poirier also revealed that the arrest has already cost him sponsorships and other gigs, and his role as a desk analyst at Paramount could also be at risk.
Dustin Poirier says he would return to the UFC “if it’s the right fight”
A recent interview of Dustin Poirier is making rounds online, in which “The Diamond” teased a UFC return. Poirier told One On One during the sitdown that he could come back to fight Conor McGregor again, or run it back with Justin Gaethje, or lock horns with Nate Diaz. He said:
“I’m still under contract with the UFC. There’s definitely a chance. If it’s the right fight, I’ll come back for sure… I’d probably fight Conor [McGregor] if that came about. Nate Diaz, I’d come back for that. There’s a few I’d come back for me, and Gaethje are 1-1; that needs closure too.”

Dustin Poirier retired in 2025 in front of his home crowd following his loss to Max Holloway in their BMF title bout. He’s currently not in the pool but is still under contract with the UFC, as mentioned earlier.
With McGregor finally returning this weekend after 5 years, a win for “The Notorious” could perhaps motivate Dustin Poirier to come out of retirement to run it back with the Irishman, as the two still have unfinished business given how tragically UFC 264 ended.
