Dana White reacts to chaos expected at UFC 328 presser for Khamzat Chimaev vs. Sean Strickland

Khamzat Chimaev, Sean Strickland

Khamzat Chimaev will make the first defense of his middleweight championship against Sean Strickland in the main event of UFC 328 at the Prudential Center in Newark on May 9. “Borz” had previously suffered a minor foot injury and had promised a return after Ramadan, and now fans have a date and location for his next fight.

Although Chimaev was previously rumored to take on No. 2-ranked 185-pound contender Nassourdine Imavov, who is riding a 5-fight win streak, Strickland’s most recent performance at UFC Houston against Anthony Hernandez has earned him a title shot sooner than most expected.

Dana White jokes Khamzat Chimaev vs. Sean Strickland press conference might need security

After the promotion announced all the fights up to the UFC Freedom 250 event, Dana White gave his two cents on the UFC 328 headliner between Khamzat Chimaev and Sean Strickland. He said:

“It’s a fun card, and obviously, the main event of the fight that people have been waiting for a long time. Strickland looked incredible in his last performance.”

Strickland’s recent controversial comments about Chimaev and the Muslim community could be one of the many reasons why the press conferences ahead of UFC 328 may require extra security. A brawl could break out at any moment, given the growing bad blood brewing between “Borz” and “Tarzan,” evident from the constant back-and-forth on social media.

White added during the same sitdown:

“How much security you think we’re gonna need for Chimaev vs. Strickland?”

Reacting to the UFC head honcho’s above question, Michael Bisping added:

“Quite a lot, Dana. You need to hire some extra people.”
