Dana White: Jon Jones needs to take this more seriously

Light Heavyweight champion has dominated the news recently. He came out and said that he was unaware that UFC 151 would be cancelled were he to turn down the proposed fight with Chael Sonnen when Dan henderson was injured. Today, however, UFC President Dana White spoke up at the UFC 152 weigh-ins to disparage this statement. White, always strong in his convictions, had the following to say via MMAFighting.com:

“I’m actually glad that he did say that. I don’t think he would have said that if I was there. So today we’re going to be face-to-face and we’ll see what he says and he doesn’t say. The fact that he said he didn’t know the show would be canceled is false. I did tell him the show would be canceled.”I think he takes this thing, or is acting like he’s taking it, lightly, which he shouldn’t be.The fact that the fight was canceled isn’t a joke. It’s not funny and a lot of people were affected by it. There was a lot of collateral damage that happened with the cancelling of the show. We’ll see how this goes.”

Strong words from the strong-willed President. He believes that Jones may be taking the whole situation with a grain of salt when the circumstances call for anything but. As with any touchy situation, it would seem that the truth obviously lies somewhere in between. But time for dicussion has passed, and the fans already view Jon Jones in a very negative light:

“I think he needs to take it a little more serious than he is. I don’t know if he’s embarrassed. Obviously the fans have turned on him, but I think he needs to take this thing a little more serious than he did.”

White is apparently not pleased with the words of his champion, who said that he would forgive his boss even though he never received an apology from him. The drama of this saga has been played out, yet it continues as more and more details develop. Who deserves the apology, if anyone?
