Miles Johns turned a chaotic short-notice featherweight clash into a statement win at UFC Vegas 120, stopping Gianni Vazquez with a first-round TKO.
“Chapo” had originally been scheduled to face Jessie Rosas at bantamweight, but Rosas was ruled out after suffering a cut. That opened the door for Vazquez, who accepted the fight on just two days’ notice for his second UFC stint. The Mexican had previously stepped in on short notice at UFC Vegas 113, losing to Javid Basharat before being released and returning to the regional scene.
Johns, who had 10 days to prepare, controlled the center early and landed a sharp right hand before gradually increasing his pressure. Vazquez found his moment when he caught Johns coming forward and dropped him, seemingly shifting the momentum.
Johns responded almost immediately. The 32-year-old recovered from the knockdown and came charging forward with a left hand that sent Vazquez crashing to the canvas. Johns followed him down and unleashed a barrage of punches until the referee waved off the contest at 3:09 of Round 1.
The victory snapped Miles Johns’ three-fight skid and gave him his first win since June 2024. He improved to 16-5 professionally, while Vazquez suffered the first knockout loss of his career and fell to 13-5-1.
