Conor McGregor Rips Marc Goddard Over 2012 Incident, Referee Responds

Conor McGregor and Marc Goddard

Conor McGregor went on a wild rant about an incident that happened years ago involving longtime mixed martial arts (MMA) referee Marc Goddard.

The two have some history with each other. First off was the incident that the former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion brought up from 2012. McGregor fought England’s Dave Hill under the Cage Warriors banner.

At the time, Goddard was serving as one of Hill’s cornermen. According to McGregor, he thought Goddard’s behavior was unprofessional. Fast forward to 2017, McGregor got into hot water after getting physical with Goddard when he got into the cage during his teammate Charlie Ward’s fight.

McGregor took to his official Twitter account where he wrote the following:

“What a great milestone in Irish MMA’s history! The behavior of Britain’s Marc Goddard in the corner that night was horrendous. Burst into the cage and attacked referee Neil Hall in between rounds. The fight was still in play! Crazy behavior for an up and coming referee! Anyway”–  Conor McGregor on Twitter.

Goddard responded to Conor McGregor and chose to take the high road by writing:
