Colby Covington Game to Fight Bo Nickal at White House

Bo Nickal, Colby Covington

Colby Covington, an avid supporter of U.S. President Donald Trump, is ready to do whatever it takes to be on the UFC White House card.

Earlier this year, Covington had teased a move up to 185 pounds, but it is not the weight class he is focused on at the moment. The 38-year-old recently moved up a spot in the latest welterweight rankings, but has not won a fight in 1,452 days.

Earlier this year, Covington had expressed a desire to lock horns with Paddy Pimblett and urged the latter to move up to welterweight. However, “The Baddy” has no interest in fighting Covington or moving up right now.

Coming to Bo Nickal, “Chaos” had no intentions of fighting the former. Nickal and Covington had a heated back-and-forth exchange during the RAF 04 post-fight press conference, where “Chaos” took multiple verbal digs at Nickal.

Since then, Bo Nickal has asked the UFC to book a fight between them, as he wants to make Colby Covington eat his own words and teach him a lesson inside the octagon.

Covington did not care about Nickal’s earlier call-outs, but now, with the June 14 event approaching, he’s ready to do whatever it takes to secure a spot on the card and fight on the South Lawn of the White House.

Colby Covington agrees to fight Bo Nickal

During a recent interview with MMA Fighting, Colby Covington said that his chances of fighting on June 14 are 50/50:

“I think it’s 50/50 [Me fighting at the White House]. This is what my whole life has come to: wanting to compete on this card. This is going to be on the South Lawn of the White House.”

Covington added that he’s been talking to Hunter Campbell and is ready to fight anybody:

“I’ve been talking to Hunter Campbell for the last couple of weeks. I told him, ‘I’ll fight anybody. It doesn’t matter. I don’t care who you pick. I could tell you a couple of matchups that I think are fun matchups, that I think the fans would like, but ultimately, it’s your business, and it’s your decision.’ So, hopefully, Hunter will bless me with the opportunity to fight at the White House. But truly, I don’t know.”

When asked if he’s ready to fight Bo Nickal, Colby Covington confessed that he will accept the fight if he gets no other options on the table.

“If that’s the best [Bo Nickal] that they can come up with, for sure. It’s a great matchup. How’s he going to hurt me? He’s not going to take me down and hold me down. He can’t strike. He’s scared to strike. He’s scared to get hit in the face. His body is like a pillow-top down comforter. You touch him in the body, he’s going to fall over. He got knocked out by a Dutch grappler [RDR]… If that’s what UFC wants and it’s the only option I have, then of course, yeah, I’m taking that fight… I just want to fight at the White House, so if I have to go to ‘85 to do it, then so be it.

Lastly, the 38-year-old added that his first choice won’t be fighting Nickal at middleweight. He would instead look for a big fight at 170-pounds:

“But I’d like to be at 170 [pounds]. Welterweights’ always been my weight. I have aspirations there. I was the world champion in 2019, so I’m hoping we can find a big fight at welterweight.”
