Huge news in the story of Jon Jones’ New Mexico hit-and-run case…..

Former UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones stands on the precipice of the biggest day of his life. Not a fight in the octagon, but in the courts, as he prepares to stand trial for his hit-and-run saga in New Mexico this past April. We recently learned of the date that ‘Bones’ would get his day in court, and now we know what charges and sentence he could potentially receive.

After it was revealed that Jones’ legal team would seek a plea bargain, chatter turned to speculation about a reduced sentence and maybe even a 2016 return to the UFC for the stripped 205-pound boss. Damon Martin of FOX just broke the news on Twitter this hour of Jones’ felony charges and potential punishment, check it out:

Earlier in the timeline of this highly publicized case it was thought ‘Bones’ could face up to five years, so a possible 18-month sit means a plea deal could reduce that considerably. The ,000 fine is literally peanuts for a wealthy man like Jones, and casts massive shadows over the recent 0K tax put on Nick Diaz.

Daniel Cormier now sits atop the division that Jones once owned with a strong conviction, but the press surrounding the fallen champion in recent times has all been in relation to his misbehavior this year just gone. A failed out-of-competition drug test for cocaine proved to be just the tip of the iceberg for Jones, as he spiralled out of the big leagues and in to a possible jail stint for his discrepancies.
