Bellator 144 Draws Lowest Rating In The Scott Coker Era

Bellator 144 drew 555,000 viewers, which marks the lowest viewership number of the Scott Coker era.

Bellator 144 took place Friday, Oct. 23 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. The main card aired on Spike following prelims online.

The main card featured four bouts with the title bout as the main event (Brandon Halsey vs. Rafael Carvalho) while Dennis Olson vs. Brennan Ward has been bumped up to the co-main event. Also on the main card, Charlie Ontiveros vs. Michael Page and Isao Kobayashi vs. Goiti Yamauchi took place.

During the Coker era, Bellator averaged 657,000 viewers for their regular shows.

The show went up against a baseball game did 5,626,000 viewers on FS 1 as well as a Memphis vs. Tulsa college football game on ESPN, that did 1,216,000 viewers.

Bellator lost their main event just a few weeks out from this event, and there was little to no advertising for this event in the lead-up.

Bellator 145 should bounce them up to around the 800,000 viewers range. Bellator 145 is their final big event of the year, and usually when they do these events, then they will do big ratings.

Bellator 145 takes place on November 6th event at Scottrade Center in St. Louis. The event is headlined by a featherweight title fight between Patricio Freire and Daniel Straus while Will Brooks and Marcin Held battle it out for the lightweight title in the co-main event.

Bellator 138 did over a million viewers while their last one, Bellator 142 (Bellator Dynamite) did a little under one million viewers.
