Asu Almabayev Gets Unbelievable Comeback Submission – UFC Qatar Highlights
Asu Almabayev snatches victory via submission in the third round against Alex Perez at UFC Qatar.
Perez started the fight incredibly fast throwing plenty of combinations. Almabayev returned with some spinning attacks but mainly remained on the outskirts engaging in clinches and grappling where necessary. An even first round with both men having positives to take back to their corners. However, it was the American veteran whom was the happier of the two men after the first five minutes.
The flyweights continued the fast pace in the second round. The round began with Perez getting a mount on Almabayev and unloading ground and pound. A beautiful spinning body kick from the Kazakh was the best shot of the round however Perez stuck with the grappling as the momentum remained with the American.
Entering the third it seemed the Kazakh needed a finish to earn the win in Doha, Qatar. Perez shot a takedown after a speedy spinning head kick landed from Almabayev. Immediately the Kazakh locked in a guillotine submission and before it even go to the ground Perez had to tap. An exceptional comeback from Asu Almabayev representing Kazakhstan at 125lbs.
