Alex Pereira and Sean Strickland throw hands in insane ending to sparring match
UFC stars Alex Pereira and Sean Strickland went to war in recent footage of the two sparring together.
As we know, Alex Pereira and Sean Strickland have an interesting past. The two met once upon a time in the early days of Pereira’s UFC run, and on that occasion, it was ‘Poatan’ who secured a knockout win that helped to set him up for a championship showdown with Israel Adesanya.
Now, Alex Pereira is preparing to fight on the UFC White House card, with his hope being that he can go on to become a three-weight world champion by defeating Ciryl Gane for the interim heavyweight championship in the co-main event. As for Sean Strickland, he will soon challenge Khamzat Chimaev for the UFC middleweight championship as he attempts to win the belt for a second time.
With those fights in mind, it makes sense that both Alex Pereira and Sean Strickland would see value in sparring as former foes.
Sean Strickland comments on sparring Alex Pereira
“We’re sparring, and he got me to drop my hands, and at that moment I just said, nah dude, like, we’re done!”
Strickland went on to joke about Alex suggesting they were going to spar lightly, before teasing him for how intense he looked during the session.
Given the history these two have together, it’s pretty neat to see that they are able to do things like this – and it’s also great preparation for both of them ahead of what will be a couple of really tough tests in the upcoming months.
One thing is for sure – Strickland isn’t going to forget about what Pereira did to him in their UFC clash for a long time, and looking back, it’s crazy to think these two were in the same weight class once upon a time.
