Former Elite XC lightweight champion and Strikeforce welterweight title challenger KJ Noons squared off against Brazilian unknown Alex Oliveira. ‘King’ was heavy favorite heading in to this fight, with Oliveira’s last fight being a March submission loss to Gilbert Burns. The oddsmakers were wrong in this case though, as Oliveira pulled a fantastic first round finish out of the bag. Next timeĀ Bet on MMA at William Hill.

The heavy-handed Noons was never given the time to work by Oliveira, who swiftly took the fight down to the mat and made it ugly. Taking Noons’ back with relative ease, ‘Cowboy’ was able to sink in a fight-ending rear naked choke at just over half way through the round. This is Noons’ first loss since 2013, having beaten Sam Stout and George Sotiropoulis, and getting a NC against Daron Cruickshank.
