It appears UFC’s inaugural Madison Square Garden event will play host to a massive 185-pound collision.

Former champion Chris Weidman will face Yoel Romero on the main card of November 5’s UFC 205 pay-per-view (PPV) event from the iconic Garden, the UFC’s first-ever major event from New York City. The fight had been rumored in recent weeks and has been supposedly confirmed today according to a report from MMA Junkie, although the UFC has yet to officially announce the fight.

No. 4-ranked Romero first broke the news when he posted the following picture announcing that he has inked a deal to take on former middleweight king at UFC 205:

Weidman (13-1) is coming off of the first loss of his mixed marital arts (MMA) career, in which he also lost his middleweight title to the now-former 185-pound champ Luke Rockhold at UFC 194 last December.

The two men were originally scheduled to rematch for the title in the main event of UFC 199 in June, however, Weidman sustained a neck injury in camp and was forced to withdraw from the contest.

Now ‘The All American’ is back in full health and is ready to once again take center Octagon and attempt to reclaim his throne.

Romero (12-1) also last saw Octagon action at UFC 194 when he took home a controversial split decision win over Jacare Souza. Following the contest the Cuban star was suspended by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) for a potential violation stemming from an out of competition drug test.

Now that his suspension is up the ‘Soldier of God’ is looking to continue his quest to the top of the middleweight division, and with a win over Weidman in NYC, it should certainly guarantee him the next shot at the gold.

UFC 205 takes place live on pay-per-view (PPV), from the Madison Square Garden Arena in New York City on November 12, 2016.
