Alexander Gustafsson vs Anthony Johnson has finally been made official….

Fans of light-heavyweight wrecking ball Anthony Johnson were relieved when the troubled veteran was finally reinstated by the UFC, after months of speculation regarding domestic abuse charges. “Rumble” was suspended by the promotion amidst numerous spouse abuse charges, all of which were eventually dropped.

Johnson:

“This fight might be on his home turf, but I’m ready to go over to Sweden and prove that I’m the next in the line for the UFC light heavyweight title, I’m not intimidated by fighting in front of Alex’s hometown fans. I’m going to go in there and look for the knockout like I do in all of my fights. I can’t wait for this!”

Gustafsson:

“This is going to be an epic event, I want more than 30,000 fans to come and witness me win on January 24. Then I’m going to go and get the title! My journey back to the top starts now.”-Quotes via UFC.com

“”The Mauler” had his rematch with light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones squashed when he injured his knee in the lead up to UFC 181, but a win over Johnson would really set the stage for the Swedish star to attempt vengeance of his UFC 165 loss to “Bones””.
