Frankie Edgar: I look forward to being Lightweight champion again

UFC Lightweight challenger speaks to Karyn Bryant and Kenny Florian on FuelTV.com, addressing the issue of dealing with champion Ben Henderson’s size in their rematch. He thought that he fought very well in the first fight, but thinks he needs to deal with the always-effective kicks of Benson Henderson a bit better. When asked about his time as the number one contender after being the Lightweight champion for almost two years, Edgar responded:

“Yeah of course, you get pretty accustomed to being called champion. I just think It’s something that I definitely miss and look forward to getting back.”

Of course, the ongoing question of Frankie fighting Jose Aldo reared its head, to which Edgar stated:

“I’m not even going to acknowledge that question because I’m fighting in four days for the Lightweight title. I’m thinking of Ben Henderson, and him alone”

Frankie Edgar, always a class act, appears calm and focused heading into his monumental rematch at UFC 150 in Denver, Colorado this weekend. While the buildup to this fight may not be overblown because of massive trash talk and endless media coverage, it no doubt features two fighters who have the utmost respect for one another’s skills. This could actually be viewed as a refreshing departure from the WWE-style hype that MMA is becoming accustomed to, a respect for the actual martial arts aspect of the sport. Will Frankie Edgar begin another reign at 155 lbs. on Saturday night?
