Hughes vs Almeida on tap for UFC 117

Former Welterweight champ Matt Hughes defeated MMA legend Renzo Gracie at UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi. Hughes looked superior throughout and in the third round he clinched the win with a TKO victory after battering Gracie throughout. Ricardo Almeida, a student of Gracie’s, has a record of 12-3(4 by sub) and is reported to be after vengance in a match up likely to take place at UFC 117.

Hughes also holds victories over Royce Gracie (Renzo’s cousin) and Matt Serra who is a Gracie student. So there is pride and honor on the line in this match up. Both fighters are on winning streaks with Hughes on two and Almeida on a three fight win streak including wins over Kendall Grove and Matt Brown
