Benson Henderson's audition video for The Ultimate Fighter Season 9
Posted on February 27, 2012, 05:45 PM by Trent Reinsmith"The Ultimate Fighter" season 9 aired on Spike TV in the spring of 2009. Appearing on the show were fighters such as Che Mills, DeMarques Johnson, James Wilks, Waylon Lowe, Andre Winner and Ross Pearson. Today it seems that the UFC may have missed the boat on one fighter that submitted a video to be included on the show. That fighter, the new UFC Lightweight Champion Benson Henderson.
The show began filming in early 2009, about the same time that Henderson made his WEC debut at WE 38. During his run in the WEC he claimed the WEC Lightweight title, defeating Donald Cerrone for the interim title and then defeating Jamie Varner to unify the interim title and the WEC ttle. He would then defend that title once, defeating Cerrone again, before losing the belt to Anthony Pettis in the final WEC event.
After that loss Henderson went on a tear, culminating with his victory over Frankie Edgar at UFC 144.
One wonders how things would have turned out had Henderson made it onto the cast of "TUF" 9.

hahahah "My name is benson henderson . I have bigger legs than anyone in the light weight division ,and im ready to show my superior strengh in the cage"
Looking at the fighters in the S9 show, how was he not selected.?
MAybe he should have shown himself doing Squats with BIG weights in the video to impress Dana White , then he would have been selected.
I actually first thought that this video was a joke because of his smile.
Especially when the so called "Team USA" was majoraly lacking in talent that year.
I swear you must have pictures of every UFC fighter's legs covering your walls.
You`re looking at the next UFC Lightweight champion.
I wonder if he really believed he would be, or just said it to promote himself.
I'm guessing he was picked to go to WEC instead of being on the show.
I dont think Zuffa owned them at this point
Same thing probably happened to Chris Tuscherer and Vaughan Lee. Tuscherer tried out for season 10 and was 18-1 at that point. And fought Gonzaga quickly after. Vaughan Lee tapped the dude out 4 times at the tryouts and fought in the UFC in England.
Zuffa was the owner from 2006! In the video he says he's 7-1, he made his WEC debut on the 25th of january at WEC 38 against Anthony Njokuani and his record was still 7-1, so i think maybe he was chosen to go to WEC instead of being on TUF!
