"You're Not Ronda Rousey" - Miesha Tate Reveals What Dana White Told Her During a Heated Argument

Miesha Tate got a hard reality check from Dana White.

A former UFC women’s bantamweight champion, Tate is often regarded as one of MMA’s top female fighters. Unfortunately, much of her success was overshadowed by Ronda Rousey.

First crossing paths under the Strikeforce banner in 2012, Tate and Rousey took the Octagon by storm a year later, running it back at UFC 168. At the time, it was the biggest women’s fight in UFC history, and her subsequent title victory over Holly Holm four years later left Tate wanting a bigger piece of the pie.

But when she went to White with her grievance, the UFC CEO didn’t pull any punches.

“He pissed me off,” Tate said during an appearance on the Jaxxon Podcast with Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson. “I was arguing. I think I wanted more pay. I wanted something different. He’s like, ‘Look, you’re not Ronda Rousey.’ Damn. All right. Well, good. I don’t want to be, but still, show me the money. You know, I’m the other half of that equation.”

Miesha Tate talks ‘real Beef’ with Rousey on TUF Set

Before Tate and Rousey went to war under the UFC banner, they competed as opposing coaches on The Ultimate Fighter. For many, it was their first glimpse into how both fighters conduct themselves outside the Octagon. Needless to say, Rousey rubbed a lot of people, including Tate, the wrong way.

“It was real beef, and the fans saw most of it, because it happened publicly,” Tate said while discussing her rivalry with Rousey on TUF. “The things that people didn’t see, though, on The Ultimate Fighter, there was definitely [hatred]. Because they clipped that up so much, and there’s only such a small bit of what you would actually see.

“I expected her to be all pissy towards me and everything, and I was like, ‘I’m fine with that because we’re going to punch each other in the face at the end of the day.’ But what people didn’t get to see is how rude she was to the people behind the camera, the producers, those kinds of people who she knew she could be a d***head to.”

While it’s been nearly a decade since Rousey’s last fight, Tate still competes on a semi-regular basis. After unretiring in 2021, she’s gone 2-4 with her two wins coming via third-round finishes against Marion Reneau and Julia Avila.
