UFC Veteran Corey Hill Dies Aged 36

Tragedy has struck the family of ex-UFC fighter Corey Hill, as it was confirmed today that the 36-year old has passed away in his hospital bed. He was taken in to care suffering bronchitis, but x-rays led doctors to put the fighter in to surgery, where complications followed.

Hill’s manager and family confirmed the sad news, and MMAJunkie.com had a more in depth story on his passing:

“Hill went to the hospital several days ago with a severe case of bronchitis. An X-ray revealed a cyst in his lung and doctors ordered surgery. After surgery, Hill refused a ventilator and signed a waiver of liability, according to a source close to the fighter who asked to remain anonymous because he was not authorized to publicly discuss the matter. Hill then suffered a collapsed lung and a heart attack and was close to death for several days.”

Hill was a college and high school wrestler, moving in to mixed martial arts at the age of 27. He became known after a brutal leg break in the UFC against Dale Hartt in 2008, later relating to Anderson SIlva in the following, powerful video:
