UFC Vegas 45 Betting Preview

UFC Vegas 45

The final UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) card of the year is set to go down on Saturday night (December 18th) at the APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada. The UFC Vegas 45 fight card is pretty stacked and will feature one of the most popular fighters in MMA, Derrick Lewis, squaring off against rising star, Chris Daukaus in the main event of the evening. Before that, Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson will be looking to prove he still has what it takes to compete at the top of the welterweight division when he faces Belal Muhammad.

Derrick Lewis vs. Chris Daukaus

Derrick Lewis is coming off of an interim heavyweight title shot but the bookmakers have him as the +110 underdog against rising star Chris Daukaus who is the favourite to win the UFC Vegas 45 main event at odds of -138.

For us, these odds are quite unfair considering Lewis has been a heavyweight contender for years and Daukaus is yet to face a real test in the UFC.

The 32-year-old former police officer has been beaten and stopped three times outside of the UFC and we think he could come unstuck as he jumps several levels to take on ‘The Black Beast’ this weekend.

Lewis to win by KO/TKO seems like the safest bet in this one.

Stephen Thompson vs. Belal Muhammad

The UFC Vegas 45 co-main event is a pretty straightforward fight and if Stephen Thompson still has anything left in the tank he should breeze through this fight.

‘Wonderboy’ is the -225 favourite to win this fight and we will certainly be adding him to our parlay. The Karate specialist has fought and beaten many fighters above the level of Muhammad who’s the +188 underdog.

‘Remember The Name’ has been putting it all together as of late and has picked up some decent wins but in our opinion, he will never be a top welterweight and that is still what it takes to get by Thompson.

Carlos Diego Ferreira vs. Mateuz Gamrot

The most exciting prospect in all of European MMA could well be Mateuz Gamort and no one is talking about him, yet.

Gamrot is 2-1 in the UFC but should arguably be 3-0 after losing a razor-thin split decision in his promotional debut.

Last time out the Polish fighter quickly beat UFC veteran Jeremy Stephens to really announce himself as a contender at lightweight.

A win over #12 ranked Carlos Diego Ferreira would be a huge step for Gamrot to take and one we believe he will at UFC Vegas 45.

The former KSW champion is the -188 favourite against +163 underdog Ferreira. After everything we’ve said of course we are backing Gamrot to win but don’t mistake our confidence in Gamrot as a lack of understanding of just how much of a test Ferreira will be at UFC Vegas 45.

Cub Swanson vs. Darren Elkins

If you can bet on who’ll get Fight of the Night put some money down on these guys.

Cub Swanson and Darren Elkins have been putting on wars forever and we expect them to go at it for three rounds this weekend.

Swanson is the -200 favourite and we just have to back him in this one. It’s very clear he’s not the fighter he once was but despite that, he has still managed to churn out impressive wins and put on gutsy performances as of late.

The +170 underdog, Elkins, has been doing the same as of late and has picked up back-to-back wins. He’ll be tough, game and the fight will be close but we think his winning run will end at UFC Vegas 45.
