UFC 193 Extended Preview

A few years back, UFC president Dana White was adamantly against the idea of having women fight inside of the Octagon. In just a few weeks’ time, he will attempt to break the all-time attendance record with an event headlined by not one, but two female title fights.

UFC 193 is set to go down live on pay-per-view on November 14, 2015 from a 70,000 plus seat stadium in Australia.

The card is being headlined by a women’s bantamweight title fight as dominant champion “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey once again puts her title on the line against former boxing champion Holly “The Preacher’s Daughter” Holm.

Rousey is not only one of the most dominant fighters in the promotion, but she also happens to be the UFC’s biggest star, and she may be facing her toughest test to date in the form of Holm. Very few have come remotely close to even challenging the “Rousey” one, currently a massive favourite for the bout, but very few have the striking prowess that “The Preacher’s Daughter” does.

That being said, Rousey is the best for a reason, and it will be intriguing to see how her decorated grappling background stacks up against Holm’s elite striking background.

In the co-main event, rising women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzeczyk will defend her title against No. 9-ranked Canadian Valerie Letourneau.

Jedrzeczyk has rose to stardom mainly due to her absolutely vicious Muay Thai style. “Joanna Champion” is coming off of two devastating beatings over Carla Esparza, and Jessica Penne, and looks as if she has a tight hold on the 115-pound division.

“Trouble” has also been impressive in her UFC run, winning three-straight fights all by decision. But can she do enough to derail the Polish champion?
