UFC 189 is less than a week away, with a stacked night of fights going down in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 11th, 2015. Featherweight interim title challengers Conor McGregor and Chad Mendes headline the card, after the only 145-pound UFC champion ever, Jose Aldo, was forced to withdraw from the bout with a rib injury. The harsh news is softened considerably by the fact that McGregor vs. Mendes has been a highly anticipated bout for a while now.
UFC 189 Embedded episode 4 is out, continuing the promotion’s efforts to cram some hype in to the short notice headliner. With little to no attention being paid to the co-main event and welterweight title tilt of Robbie Lawler vs. Rory MacDonald, aside from half the poster on the UFC youtube page, it’s clear that McGregor/Mendes is the real selling point of the card, as was Aldo/McGregor before.
In this episode, Mendes prepares for his title tilt against McGregor by swimming, while ‘Notorious’ does his own pool work by receiving a poolside massage before showing off his weapons. Meanwhile, Lawler and MacDonald finalize preparations for their championship fight. Check out the action above.
