Former UFC champion defends Tom Aspinall, tells Dana White to show fighters some grace
Former UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling has given his thoughts on the Tom Aspinall/Dana White situation.
Right now, it’s not exactly clear as to whether or not Tom Aspinall will be able to compete again. He is undergoing surgery on both eyes, and yet despite the horrific turn of events that led us to this point, it’s Tom who seems to be catching the most amount of criticism for it – even from UFC boss Dana White himself.
Tom Aspinall can only stay focused on his own goal of recovering and getting back to 100%, and hopefully, that’ll be enough, and we will get the opportunity to see him fight once again. Alas, if he doesn’t, then there’s every chance he will go down in history as one of the biggest ‘what ifs’ in the history of the sport.
In a recent tweet, Aljamain Sterling became the latest fighter to defend Tom Aspinall, especially after what seemed to be yet another shot from Dana White over the weekend.
Aljamain Sterling’s message to Dana White regarding Tom Aspinall
“I been where Tom is rn. He can fight and win, and people are still gonna find someway to bring it up and make a complaint about it as if it’s not in the past and as if he wasn’t affected by it. I’ve always said when Dana does things like this, the casual fans eat it up. It doesn’t take much to just show your fighters some grace. It doesn’t cost anything lol. It’s free!”
Aspinall’s recovery is all that matters right now, but for Dana White, it’s probably worth him taking a look in the mirror to try and work out whether or not he really even still has the passion to run this ship at this point in his career.
