It looks like Tito Ortiz is back in the spotlight, although it’s not for the reasons he’d like it to be. The former UFC light heavyweight champ was arrested early this morning in Los Angeles on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI).

According to a report from MMAJunkie.com, the California Highway Patrol pulled Ortiz over after he ran his 2012 Porsche Panamera into a center median near the Santa Monica exit of the I-405 freeway. He submitted to a field sobriety test and blew a .12 blood alcohol level, around .04 over the legal limit on California. Ortiz was arrested at 4:37 a.m. PT on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI.

The embattled Bellator fighter was taken to a local Los Angeles Police Department for booking at 6:08 a.m. PT and released on $15,000 bond. Two unnamed passengers were riding with Ortiz at the time of the accident.

It’s been a rough go lately for ‘The Huntington Beach Bad Boy,’ who is starting to live up to his moniker. He had a well-publicized spat with former wife and porn star Jenna Jameson over the custody of their twin boys.

Ortiz also saw his fighting career go down the drains when a proposed headlining bout against Quinton “Rampage” Jackson at Bellator’s inaugural pay-per-view was scrapped after Ortiz fractured his neck. The injury left him on the shelf for an undetermined amount of time.

And perhaps that’s for the best. Despite being in the UFC Hall of Fame, Ortiz doesn’t seem like he’s taking his comeback all that seriously. With a massive amount of injuries hampering him, Ortiz may be well served to just call it a career.

He didn’t do Bellator any favors by forcing their PPV to be aired on cable and his latest transgression certainly puts a black eye on the signing. He hasn’t fought since he lost a decision to Forrest Griffin at UFC 148 in July.

Just two days ago, Ortiz was in the news for trying to get Miesha Tate to help his client Cris “Cyborg” Justino train for her next bout.

Now he’s in the headlines for something different altogether. Ortiz was a great champion in the so-called “dark ages” of MMA, but he may have let stardom get to his head. What is your take on the never-ending saga of “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy?”
