Terence Crawford Retires In Astonishing Announcement

This week an icon of American boxing hung up his gloves in shock announcement. At 38 years of age Terence Crawford has decided it is now he wishes to call time on his legendary career.

The announcement comes as a surprise because there have been conversations about a return to the ring in 2026 for the American. The five division champion took to social media to announce his decision in a feature length video showing his career as a whole and highlights. Some key quotes from the video read as follows,

“I gave this sport everything I had. I faced the best, moved through weight classes, and made history on my own terms. 42-0. 3x Undisputed. Five division world champion. No shortcuts. No excuses.”

Terence Crawford Career In Review

Retiring on top at 42-0 the record is immaculate for ‘Bud’ and he will go down as one of the greatest boxers of all time.

A 17 year long pro career that began back in 2008 and now stands unblemished after 42 bouts. A champion across five divisions with a multitude of titles and belts to show for it. His first world championship achievement came in 2014 against Scotsman Ricky Burns in Glasgow, an event that featured a certain Anthony Joshua on the undercard.

Rising through the weight classes ‘Bud’ claimed the super lightweight championship in 2017 and then moved to welterweight to scalp some big names. British icons, Amir Khan and Kell Brook both suffered at the hands of Crawford each suffering losing via stoppage.

The brutality of ‘Bud’ had always been a sight to behold and from 2016 to 2023 Crawford fought 11 times and stopped every single opponent in ferocious fashion. That run concluded with a brutal beatdown over long term rival Errol Spence Jr handing the fellow American his one and only career loss.

In September he faced a fellow legend of the sport in Canelo Alvarez. It was the biggest boxing event of the year in the Allegiant Stadium live on Netflix sponsored by Riyadh Season and Crawford was phenomenal. Upsetting the odds and making the huge weight jump to claim the super middleweight belt from on of the sports greatest ever fighters.
