Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza Says Anderson Silva Will Be Back Sooner Than You Think

Anderson Silva 0011

The world of MMA witnessed one of the nastiest finishes of all time last year, and UFC middleweight legend Anderson Silva was on the bad end of it. At UFC 168 ‘The Spider’ squared off against Chris Weidman, snapping his leg in the process of trying to regain his long-held title.

Silva has since been filmed, on crutches, in the gym and walking crutch free. Just 45 days after snapping his leg against ‘The All-American’, it looks like Silva is on course for a big comeback. Silva’s training partner and UFN 36 competitor Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ de Souza spoke with MMAFighting.com about the former 185-pound boss:

“I think he will return faster than many people think, a true champion always overcomes adversities, and he will. He’s the one who has to answer this question, but I believe he will return. I’m praying for him to recover and get well soon. He doesn’t need to prove anything to anyone “

The question of Silva’s return has been debated fervently, but Silva has remained determined to prevail throughout the ordeal. His first questions were whether he could fight again, and he has not wavered.

Whether he is champion again or not, Silva competing again would be an achievement worthy of praise after breaking his leg at age 38. The former mw champ is clearly a natural fighter; something that will obviously start to decline with age is his ability to do so.

Souza then gave his two cents on the upcoming title bout between Chris Weidman and Vitor Belfort:

“This is going to be a great, hard fought fight,” he said. “Chris Weidman is a good wrestler and is coming off two wins against the best of all time, who seemed to be unbeatable. Chris Weidman will be more confident going into this fight.”

Souza faces a tough challenge in Francis Carmont at tonight’s UFC Fight Night: Jaragua, and may well find himself in the title mix with a solid win. We’ll see tonight if the ‘Alligator’ is able to death roll another foe, or if the tricky Tristar product will be able to extend his win streak to 12.
