This Saturday’s (November 12, 2016) blockbuster UFC 205 card from New York City received its first casualty earlier today when former light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans was removed from his middleweight debut against Tim Kennedy due to issues with his medicals.

Details were scarce about the specific details of his removal, and remain so when Evans would not disclose the injury, but according to the popular star, he was and is still more than ready to fight.

Yet some “irregular findings” on an October 19 MRI forced the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) to call the bout off. In a response to MMA Fighting, Evans affirmed he is healthy, but the commission simply had a no tolerance policy on issues like this:

“I’m disappointed. I’m healthy. I don’t want anyone worrying about me. I’m fine, physically speaking. Never felt better. It’s just the commission and their rules. I guess they have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to this.”

It’s hard to argue with the former champion, who wants to fight as soon as December, based on this Instagram photo released by UFC President Dana White that features “Suga” arguably looking more ripped and ready than he ever has:

With Evans clearly in excellent shape halfway to the middleweight limit of 185 pounds, ‘Suga’ offered the prediction that he was going to take it to Kennedy, adding that his desire to fight had not changed and he would come back:

“Man, I had something special for Tim. This doesn’t change the fact that I want to fight. This doesn’t change anything for me as far as fighting. In life, if it ain’t one thing it’s another. I won’t get beat down by this.”
