Report: Ronda Rousey Suffers Injury At WWE WrestleMania

Ronda Rousey suffers an injury while working the main event of WWE WrestleMania 35.

In the headliner, Becky Lynch beat the WWE Raw women’s champion and SmackDown women’s champion Charlotte Flair in a Winner Take All Match. This event went down on Sunday night in East Rutherford, NJ, at MetLife Stadium on the WWE Network.

The belief was that the former UFC women’s bantamweight champion was set to take time off from WWE after this show. Now, it appears that she does not have a choice due to an injury that she sustained.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio reported Rousey suffered a broken hand in the bout. The finish of the contest saw Lynch roll her up and pin her. There was some speculation as to whether the finish was botched or planned to be controversial.

Meltzer’s report says the planned ending was for Lynch to roll Rousey up and win the match, but her shoulders coming up at the end was unplanned. This marked Rousey’s first loss in a WWE ring.

Rousey signed with the WWE in January 2018, where she made her promotional debut at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event. She would then enter into a feud with Stephanie McMahon and Triple H.

This would later lead to a match where she would team up with Kurt Angle to take on the WWE power couple at WrestleMania 34 in April 2018.
