Patchy Mix Misses Weight by Over Six Pounds ahead of RIZIN 54 Bout
It has been a harsh downfall for UFC veteran and former Bellator champion Patchy Mix.

Ahead of his scheduled fight against Shoko Sato at RIZIN 54, Mix missed weight by a whopping 6.3 pounds, weighing in at 140.8 pounds for his scheduled bantamweight bout. In RIZIN, fighters must weigh 134.5 pounds or less for a bantamweight contest.
The fight will proceed despite the significant weight miss. However, this essentially becomes a can’t-win situation for Patchy Mix. Should “No Love” earn a victory or the fight end in a draw, the result will be overturned to a no contest. If Sato wins, however, it will count as a victory for him as normal. The fight was also moved down the card after originally being scheduled as the co-main event. Mix will additionally forfeit an undisclosed portion of his purse.
The Fall From Grace Continues
Monday morning’s weight miss continues the downfall of a fighter who was once viewed as a potential future UFC star.
Things began to go downhill for Mix after he failed a drug test in 2024 following his title defense against Magomed Magomedov at Bellator Champions Series: Paris in May of that year.
After serving his suspension, Mix finally made his way to the UFC, signing a four-fight deal with the promotion and earning a spot on the main card for his debut at UFC 316. However, the fight did not go his way, as he was dominated by Mario Bautista over 15 minutes.
His second UFC fight went even worse for the former Bellator champion. Entering as a massive favorite against promotional newcomer Jakub Wiklacz at UFC 320, Mix once again looked stagnant and suffered a split-decision loss, dropping him to 0-2 in the UFC.
Given how much the UFC reportedly invested in bringing him to the promotion, Mix was cut after starting his UFC tenure 0-2 and subsequently decided to join Japan’s top MMA organization, RIZIN.
In his first appearance for RIZIN in March, Mix once again lost as a massive favorite, this time suffering a second-round knockout at the hands of 19-year-old Kyoma Akimoto.
With three consecutive losses, a failed drug test, and now a massive weight miss, it has been a wild falloff for Patchy Mix.
For Patchy Mix, the next step would appear to be getting through RIZIN 54 without another loss and beginning the long process of rebuilding his career. It will be interesting to see whether “No Love” can ever get his career back on the right track.
